The Rotary Club of Kitchener was pleased to welcome Aislinn Clancy, MPP for Kitchener Centre, as the guest speaker at our recent weekly meeting. Her visit created an opportunity for Rotarians and community guests to engage in meaningful dialogue about the challenges and opportunities shaping Kitchener’s future.
Community Leadership and Long-Term Vision
Aislinn delivered a passionate and insightful presentation focused on the current social and economic landscape in Kitchener and the long-term approach being taken to ensure the city’s stability, resilience, and prosperity. Her remarks addressed several key priorities affecting our community, including:
Housing stability and affordability
Cost-of-living challenges
The future of local and sustainable energy
These topics are critical to the well-being of residents across the region and align closely with Rotary’s commitment to community service and sustainable development.
Listening to the Community: Service Above Self
One of the most impactful aspects of Aislinn’s presentation was her emphasis on listening directly to community members. She shared her openness to meeting residents one-on-one — even over a simple coffee — to better understand their concerns and lived experiences. This approachable and inclusive leadership style strongly reflects Rotary’s guiding principle of Service Above Self and reinforces the importance of collaboration between elected officials, service organizations, and the public.
Special Introduction and Distinguished Guests

The meeting was opened with a warm introduction by Emeritus Member and former Mayor of Kitchener, Carl Zehr. Carl shared thoughtful reflections on Aislinn’s dedication to public service and her people-centered approach to leadership, setting an engaging and respectful tone for the afternoon.

We were also honoured to welcome District Governor-Elect Uche Okugo, who will serve as the leader of Rotary District 7080 for the 2026–2027 Rotary year. His presence highlighted the strong connections within Rotary and the shared commitment to leadership development and community impact across the district.
Strengthening Community Through Rotary

This meeting was a wonderful example of Rotary fellowship and civic engagement, bringing together community leaders, Rotarians, and guests for thoughtful conversation and shared learning. Events like this reinforce the Rotary Club of Kitchener’s ongoing mission to support a stronger, more inclusive, and more connected community.
