A fun social event has been planned for Thursday April 22. A Beer tasting with Master Juan Carlo of Waterloo Brewing Company. Join us for an informative evening on the making of beer and how to enjoy it to its fullest! There is no cost to join this event but should you wish to partake in the beer tasting you will need to pick up 3 Waterloo Brewing beers at your local Beer/LCBO prior to the event (The 3 beer names will be provided with the Zoom link the week of April 12th). Registration is required and the event is listed on our website.
We recently supported the KW Humane Society’s Beer Tasting event and President Louise was pleased to report it raised over $5,000.
The ACE is still to be caught! The progressive pot is now over $17,400, be sure to get your tickets and to spread the word!

Our program today was a Who Am I presented by Kelly Miller who joined our club on November 23 of 2020.
Kelly spoke to a great array of photos about her personal and professional life.
My Family:
I am the youngest of 7 children. My wonderful parents that started it all are sadly no longer with us. I have 15 nieces and nephews and 10 great nieces/nephews. I grew up on Wilson Ave, my parents built the house brand new and paid $15,000. This was when it was a dead-end street and what was to become Fairview Mall was a farmer’s field.
My Fave Places:
My brothers and sister and I bought a property in Wingham together on the Maitland River. There is an old farmhouse on the property that we have been slowly fixing up. During the renovations we found newspapers on the walls from the 1800’s. We all have trailers/RV’s there and we will each have a room in the house when the renovations are completed.
Lake Nippising:
I got my love of the outdoors from both my parents but mainly my Mother, they used to go to the family cottage and my Mom didn’t much enjoy it. She talked my Dad into trying camping. They borrowed a tent, packed all 7 kids (or maybe just 6 at that time) and the dog in the car and off they went. The bugs were so bad they had to go to 3 different places, but Mom just loved it! That was it, they camped from then on.
They stumbled upon Seguin Beach Campground on Lake Nipissing 55 or so years ago and we have been going ever summer since. Last year I was lucky enough to stay for 5 weeks.
My Fave Things to Do:
In addition to spending time at our property in Wingham or at the lake I enjoy - hiking, tobogganing, baking & cooking, foraging for mushrooms and skiing.
My Career:
I have worked in the financial services industry for over 30 years. I was at Sun Life for 17 years and then I worked for a few different financial advisors where I became both life insurance and mutual fund licensed.
I started at Manulife Bank in June 2016 as executive assistant to 2 Vice-Presidents in Sales. In November 2018 I became a mortgage specialist associate as a 100% work from home position. Just recently I was promoted to Mortgage Specialist which I start on April 15th.
Why Rotary:
I was struggling to find a good way for me to give back to the community, but then I found Rotary which is just right!
