President's Remarks

It was with sadness that President Richard announced the passing of former member Alan Hunt.  "Alan Passed away peacefully December 1, 2018, with family by his side at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at the age of 77. He was a long-time member of The Rotary Club which he missed during his declining years."

Happy Jar

Louise Gardiner was happy on three counts: 1) She is very happy to be elected back to the Board of Directors for the club. 2) Husband Graham is continuing to do very well after his double lung transplant and they will be doing some travelling soon. 3) She has just recently submitted her retirement notice!

Paul Rostrup is very pleased that the online Auction committee had their final wrap up meeting last week which was a hosted by the Parkers.  He thanked Gary and Sue for a great evening.

Cheryl Ewing was happy to announce that she recent won a first prize for her Viennese Waltz at a recent Ballroom Dancing Competition.  She was particularly  pleased that she was able to do so wearing a $200 dollar dress bought on line, not a $5,000 gown as worn by most of the other competitors.  She was also happy that the annual Eastwood Performing Arts Galls with over 30 classes performing went extremely well.

Wayne Boehler is happy that Car Draw is just about over.  He announced the winner has been contacted and that the car should be arriving this week.  Wayne informed members that about $8,500 was brought in at the AUD on Draw Night to which the Kitchener Sports Association will be adding $2.000 from their 50/50 draw.  Wayne thanked everyone who helped out with the draw.

Neil Swayze was most pleased to announce that his wife Donna came through some emergency heart surgery very successfully and is recovering very well. She has already been cleared to fly in the new year.

Bell Ringer(s)

President Richard thanked Dave Chatson and Bill Proctor for organizing the Holiday Social and the Pie Auction which raised over $2,200 for Polio Plus and made them the Bell Ringers for this week.

Club Announcements

Martin Jones let members know that he will be sending our the Nutrition For learning schedule for the new calendar year within the week.  He also read a thank you letter from the school.

Cheryl Ewing informed members that we will, again this year, be assisting with the New Years Eve activities at Kitchener City Hall, selling Hot Chocolate.  We will be in operation from about 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and about 6 to 8 volunteers will be needed.  Let Cheryl know if you are interested and available.

Ray Taylor and Cheryl Ewing then gave an update on the operation of our Foundation.  Ray began with the Foundations Financial Highlights.
