Peter Gray has organized our annual spring clean up of the Dom Cardillo Trail.  Tuesday, June 12, 2018 4pm.  Meet at the Stanley Park Mall Walmart parking lot on River Road.

Wayne Boehler announced two upcoming opportunities for selling Car Draw tickets and raising money for car draw.

1.  Cruising on King-  event held downtown Kitchener on July 13th.   Our club has committed to volunteer for parking assistants.   We will need a total of 24 volunteers, split in to two 12 person shifts.    We can also sell car draw tickets at the event.   Car draw will receive $3000 for our help during the event.  Sign up details to arrive soon.

2.   2018 Plowing match will be held near Pain Court in Chatham-Kent.   Although it may be a little further to drive, the benefits of selling more tickets will be there.  Volunteers will be needed to fill 5 days.   If interested in taking a day, contract Wayne or Adrian.

Paul Rostrup reminded us that there are still shifts available for this Saturday at the KidsAbility fun day.  Please contact Jill or Paul if you are able to help.

We are organizing a group to volunteer for the International Conference at Pearson International airport.  To be held on June 21st from 3-9.  If interested contact Paul Rostrup.  He will be organizing a car pool.

50/50 DRAW

The Young pot of $70.00 was won by John Webster on the second draw!   Mike Pollard drew first with no luck, then John cleaned up!

There were 2 bonus draws allowing all 4 ticket winners to receive a complimentary can of Rotary Local Lager and a RLL beer glass.  Draw tickets 3 and 4 were both won by John and Mike..... who declined as they already had won.   Draw two more....winners are Mike and John!!!  Finally (after all Mike and Johns tickets had been cleared from the bin) Dave Martindale and Cam Yule walked home with the beer swag!

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Guest Speakers from Guelph Rotary Helmut Slisarenko and Richard Broadwith were introduced by Darren Sweeney.
Rotary Local Lager began as "The Roaring Rotarian" brewed in Peterborough.  Started by the Peterborough Club, this beer saw rapid success however fell upon two major limitations.  First the micro brewery in Peterborough was unable to produce a consistent quantity to keep up with demand and provide sales outside it's local market and secondly, none of the branding was approved by Rotary International!
Soon after the Peterborough Club and the Guelph Club found a new brewing home in the Wellington Brewery.  Wellington was and is able to produce this high quality German Light Lager at volumes easily able to supply beer stores across Ontario.  The two clubs also successfully navigated both the approval of Rotary International Branding AND that of the AGCO with future hopes of stocking not only beer stores but Liquor stores.

The official launch of this project was jointly held in Guelph last August and again in Peterborough last September.

For every can of RLL sold, 20 cents is shared between the two startup clubs mostly to offset expenses, 20 cents goes to the Rotary Club which purchased the one time product stocking licence for the beer store which it was sold, and 10 cents goes to a Rotary Water Filtration program.

Worthy or reminding our members, is that our club purchased 6 beer store licenses last fall and every can sold at each of those stores benefits our club by 20 cents!  Read more about this program and visit https://portal.clubrunner.ca/155/page/local-lager to find out where you can purchase our Rotary Local Lager!
