Distribution of Online Auction Items / Return of Lawn Sings
November 25 and 26

Our online Auction is going very well again this year and, as in the past, assistance of members will be needed when the successful bidders come to pick up their items.  We will be in the same location as last year - 123 Ottawa Street South.  Our procedures will be similar to last year with the successful bidders indicating a specific time to come in on Friday between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. or Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  We will pre-package the items to be delivered out to the cars.  Four helpers are needed for each of the following shifts:

November 25     1:00 to 3:00

November 25     2:00 to 4:00

November 26     9:00 to 12:00

November 26     11:00 to 2:00

November 26     1:00 to 4:00

NB! Be sure to indicate the time slot(s) for which you are available in the comment box on the registration screen.  Friends and family are most welcome to join in.  Deadline for registering is Thursday, November 24.

If attending, dress warmly as the weather could be a bit chilly, bring a lawn chair and wear a mask and gloves.  Sanitizer and wipes will be available.

Note: Members are asked to return signs sometime during the pick up times on Friday or Saturday.

Thank you,

Neil Swayze, Online Auction Committee Chair

Visit to Woodside National Historic Site
Dec 01, 2022 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

A Visit to Woodside National Historic Site

Woodside National Historic Site is the childhood home of former Canadian Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King. King resided there from 1886 to 1893. The house was built in 1853 and has been restored to reflect the time when Mackenzie King was there and will be all decked out for the holiday season. In our 100th anniversary research we have learned that Mackenzie King was a frequent guest of the club back in 1922 and delivered an address on August 4, 1925 to a Rotary and Kiwanis combined meeting.

We have arranged for an after-hours, private viewing.   We can each explore the site at our own pace through self-guided tours but guides will be stationed throughout the house to answer any questions about the site.  There is no fee for this family friendly event but registration is required to help with planning.  Guests can be noted in the comment box on the registration page.  Deadline for registration is Monday, November 28.  Parking is limited and car-pooling is recommended.

Rotary Plaza Plaque Dedication

Although our two 100th Anniversary Projects with the City of Kitchener have been delayed, a very special event with the city has been planned to end our official 18 month anniversary celebration.

On Monday, December 19, the plaque that will be installed in Rotary Plaza recognizing our 100 years of service to the community will be dedicated in a ceremony as part of the City of Kitchener council meeting.  The council meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. and the dedication will be the first item on the agenda.

We will gather in the Learning Room on the 2nd floor of city hall at 6:30 p.m. and proceed into the council chambers as a group prior to the start of the council meeting.

Following the dedication ceremony we will return to the Learning Room for fellowship and refreshments.

This will be a great close to the year and an important milestone for our club.

To assist with organization, members planning to attend are asked to register by the deadline of Wednesday, December 14.  Family and friends are welcome to attend as well.  Parking will be availbale underground at city hall.
