Kitchener Rotary’s 100th year anniversary lunch was held on June 27, 2022 at Golf’s Steakhouse in Kitchener was a roaring success with a full house of members from the club, some very special guests and some surprises too.
 
Past Kitchener Rotary Presidents and members were in attendance and were recognized by the current Kitchener President, Adrian DeCoo.
 
There were also members of other clubs in the district there and there was a special pre-recorded message from Rotary International Director and Vice President, Valarie Wafer. District 7080 Governor Elect, Sandhya Maini from the Burlington Club brought congratulations from the District. Maini also surprised last year’s Kitchener Rotary Club President, Louise Gardiner with the Club Builder for the Year for the district. The award recognizes a Rotarian in the District who has made significant impact in supporting and strengthening their Rotary through recruiting and mentoring new members, recruiting and mentoring new members while also participating in Rotary training, involvement in vocational service projects, and support of District events. 

It was also announced by the City of Kitchener that, in recognition of the 100 years of service and support to the city, the just renovated Duke Street elevation at City Hall will be renamed-Rotary Plaza.
 
Kitchener Rotary also announced that they’ll provide $100,000 to the city to refurbish and improve the overall accessibility to the Band Stand in Victoria Park which will be renamed the Rotary Band Stand.
